About Toni Baldwin

With a strong, raspy but light voice that's been compared to the likes of Miley Cyrus, Lorde, and Fefe Dobson, 22 year old Toni Baldwin is showing promise for a career on the music scene. Born on December 18, 1995 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and always having a knack for music, Toni began writing songs and studying music in the 3rd grade. "It's really funny, I still remember the first song I ever wrote and recorded. It was called 'Toys For Mics'. I really don't remember what it was about, if it even had a real subject. It was just something I came up with on my keyboard and recorded it in one take with a tape recorder," Toni says of her first ever song. She has since moved on to bigger and better things creating an entertainment empire by doing things such as releasing her debut EP, Contra, in the fall of 2013, beginning work on her debut album, launching her lifestyle blog and channel as a social media influencer to show her fans more of her life, and starting productions under her own production company, Fine Mess Productions.

Teaching herself to play guitar in just a few weeks from a You Can Teach Yourself Guitar book and after writing over 600 songs, it came to a point where it was time for Toni to either get serious or quit, she chose to get serious. Always loving to write, writing songs for a hand-made "album" Toni gave to her classmates in the 7th grade was easy. Toni hand-made the demo for anyone who wanted it, not selling a single copy and only promoting her music on her website. "It was...different. I was different. There were people who sang yes, but no other 7th grader was talking about how they were releasing an album at the end of the school year. That wasn't something that 7th graders did in my school. But I will say, that the "music" on that "album" was beyond horrible, it was such a joke. I literally can't believe I even did that," says Toni of her middle school endeavors. But having the support of close friends and family, Toni kept going. "I thought, you know, if people can get a record deal or gather a follow of millions just from posting their songs on MySpace or Youtube, then why can't I?"

Toni started her own record label, Fine Mess Records, in 2007 and began releasing music in 2013. "I wanted to control how I was marketed and the way I created, I still do. I would still love to work with a big label and have that kind of backing, but not at the cost of my values or my vision," says Toni. With her interest in starting a music career rapidly growing, Toni moved from Alpharetta to Atlanta to be enrolled in performing arts high school, North Atlanta High School located in Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in vocal performance and the Dallas Austin after school program in 2010. In the program Toni worked with other students on original music to be presented in a showcase competition that took place on April 16, 2011. After just two months in school, Toni began work on what would soon be her debut EP, Contra. After almost 3 years of writing and recording, Contra was released on September 23rd, 2013 to a multitude of positive reviews.

Since 2014, Toni has been in the studio working on her new album, Veins, to be released soon. "I'm just ready to get out there, make more music for more people to hear, and start traveling and performing. To share all my new stories with people. Contra was written when I was around 14 or 15 years old. Now that I'm 22 almost 23, out of high school and I've lived life and experienced more than some other people my age, I have new things to sing about, I have new stories to tell. It's not all about being an outcast and things like that because I'm not an outcast anymore. I don't care about fitting in anymore. I have a group of friends that accept me and that's all I ever needed. Now it's about living life, it's about showing growth," Toni says, and that's exactly what she's doing.

Baldwin currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
