T Reads: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

We. Are Infinite.

Anyone who knows me well, knows I'm a bookworm. I've decided to incorporate my monthly reads into my XO section here on ToniBaldwin.com. I'll be posting all of my recent reads and my favorite books for you guys to check out.

The first book to start out this series is one of my favorite books of all time: The Perks of Being a Wallflower. 'Perks' has been one of my favorite books since middle school and helped me get through high school. I related to Charlie in so many ways, ways I didn't want to relate to him. But that's what, I think, made this book even more lovable for me. From being that scared freshman to by the end of the book finding a solid group of friends and coming out of his shell. I was the girl in high school who knew a lot of people, had a few friends, and spent the majority of her weekends with her boyfriend. It wasn't until my senior year after a nasty breakup and a major shift in my social group that I decided to solidify a friend group with many loving people that to this day. For the record, we still put up with each other's antics and they even help me shoot for this blog.

Now normally I'm not a fan of books that have been made into movies but 'Perks' made the short list of my exceptions. Especially because the movie was directed by Chbosky (writer of 'Perks') himself. The casting, the scenes, everything down to the soundtrack for the film was executed perfectly. The cast that he chose made sure that they captured every single emotion just like their characters did in the book. The way it was filmed made it feel like the 90's (when Charlie's story takes place) and that's a HUGE plus.

If you haven't read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, I highly suggest you check it out. If you're more of a movie type of person, you can check out the film starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller. Until next time.

XO, Toni
