I finally found a burger place that's not Five Guys that I love! It was my first time at Ponce City Market and going through the food court I saw H&F Burger. I'd heard that it was good from a friend and after seeing their pictures on their Instagram account, I knew I HAD to try it. For starters, I love the burger stand "feel" to it. They could've easily just had a standard mall type of stand but they went with a cool modern take on an actual burger stand.
One thing I love is that they serve Mexican Sprite. Being in the Coca-Cola capital, it's easy to find a Sprite anywhere but it's not easy to find Mexican Sprite everywhere. Mexican Sprite is made with real sugar and just tastes so much better. I don't know about you, but I enjoy my soda out of a glass bottle. For some reason it just tastes better.
When I took a look at the menu, I was immediately unsure if I'd enjoy the burger for one reason and one reason only: they serve bread and butter pickles. Pickles are arguably my favorite food and I'm very particular about which kinds I eat. Bread and butter pickles have never made the cut. I was extremely skeptical, but I went ahead and ordered a Mighty Jr. which is a cheeseburger with pickles and I added bacon with fresh cut fries.
I was pleasantly surprised that their bread and butter pickles not only don't taste like your standard run of the mill bread and butter, but they added an element to the burger that made it SO much better. The fries were amazing as well with the house made H&F ketchup. Ponce City Market has a few gems and H&F Burger is one of them (to me anyways). I can't wait to try the sister restaurant Hop's Chicken on my next trip!
